Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is leading the way in the online voting for the cause to benefit from money raised from car parks due to the recent VAT cut. The Government recently decreased the standard VAT rate from 17.5% to 15%, and Mayor Winter has asked for residents’ suggestions on where they would like the VAT saved from car parks to go.
The winning cause would be set for a significant source of income. With 3,500 parking spaces around Doncaster, the VAT cut could equate to £700 per day when all the car parks are at optimum use.

The mother of a young teenage girl who was badly injured by a car while waiting to catch a bus in Stainforth just before Christmas, has issued a heartfelt plea to help name those involved in the collision.
Rebecca Jones, 15, was hit by a green Vauxhall Vectra while she was standing at a bus shelter on Church Road at about 8pm on Saturday 20 December.
All the occupants of the car ran off leaving Rebecca with life-threatening injuries.
Today Rebecca's mum, Samantha Bowman said:
" All she was doing was waiting for the bus to go to Hatfield with her friends, doing nothing wrong. I don't understand how anybody could be so cruel, to just run off and leave her. Somebody knows who the driver was and we need them to come forward. We know it might be hard but look what they've done.

Every frontline officer with South Yorkshire Police is to be provided with a handheld computer to help deliver a better public service and improve efficiency in the fight against crime. The devices will enable officers to send and receive information while on the beat – meaning less time spent in the station and more on the streets.
The Force has been given just over £1million of Home Office funding to help pay for the equipment and technology to operate the state-of-the-art computers. “This is great news for South Yorkshire Police and this will have huge benefits for us,” said Assistant Chief Constable Andy Holt.
